So many puns are about to happen…but first the back story…
As with any small business a passion initiates the creativity that initiates the planning that becomes the goal. This is basically how my business concept took shape. In reality there were countless hours of research, planning and networking involved as well. Some how, this conceptual phase just flowed into going after it - inertia. I went full throttle, with a trusting, open heart. The process of going after a new entrepreneurial investment is exciting and overwhelming. But I find that high intensity is the state of being where I am in peak performance and overall, it was as smooth sailing as it could be. That is, until it wasn’t. Out of no where a lemon tree sprouted sour fruits and dumped a rotten mound of them on my threshold. Also known as, a bloody deviation from my perfect business plan. It’s like grief when lemons get thrown at you. Quiet disbelief - bargaining - anger - peace & acceptance. And I had no choice but to cycle through those emotions quickly. Finally reaching a state of peace - I tied on my apron, stepped into the kitchen and set out to create a lemonade recipe from scratch. Since I didn’t have any idea how to reinvent lemonade - I called on my vibe tribe. Now vibe tribes can be hard to come by for some people. Since Lacey is not the community where I grew up, I set out pretty early on in our relocation to find my tribe of like minded people that will always have my back (and vice versa). There’s nothing like rotten lemons in your lap to make you notice more acutely who your tribe members truly are. I’ve always had a hunch as to who was in my tribe, but at this very painful moment, my tribe rallied! They arrived with Costco bags of sugar and several sturdy juicers in hand, my new business recipe was starting to take shape. It wasn’t perfect, a little hastily attempted at first. But, I didn’t let the sourness of the lemons get me down. I gave myself the space and grace to ask my friends for help. Sometimes we got emotional, sometimes we celebrated… it’s all part of creating something magical from something yuck. Life’s like that, throwing nasty lemons that you just can’t stomach alone. Your reaction is truly a state of mind, a choice to serve it up and make life sweet again. Recently, someone mentioned to me that they noticed a cycle in their life of blessed and messed. Which basically means, when we’re in the flow of killin’ it, expect a few lemons to get thrown at you. It’s like a drive by but with lemons, you’re gonna flinch, it’s gonna sting, it’s gonna burn, but if you choose, you can sweeten the experience. Now I serve up lemonade regularly over ice with a shot of vodka & I never drink alone! Thank you to my Vibe Tribe and remember, I got your back!
