House of Boleyn: The Story of Rose & Crown
I’m beginning to believe that the DNA of our ancestors lingers somewhere deep within our core, whispering hints of our heritage. Such is my obsession with the United Kingdom, which began years ago. Getting lost for hours down family trees & verifying information between sources, going cross-eyed, my heart pounding with the excitement of discovery - just another day in the life of a genealogy nerd.
One such rabbit trail lead me to a name we all know well… Boleyn! I’m sure on the day Sir William Boleyn and Lady Margaret Butler wed, they never imagined in a million years that their union would bring some of Englands greatest triumphs and tragedies through their female grandchildren. The infamous Anne Boleyn and her majesty Queen Elizabeth…female heirs of the lesser noted grandmother Lady Margaret Butler, an Irish princess.
The lovely lady Margaret Butler…later Margaret Boleyn links my family tree to that of Queen Anne. Sir William Boleyn, Knight of Bath, is my grandfather & son of Margaret Butler. He’s also a Boleyn that got to keep his head! It’s no wonder English history fascinates me, there’s so many twists, turns and stories to keep it exciting!
I’m often asked how I came upon the name Rose & Crown. It is truly and simply a nod to my heritage. Even the salon logo - a half Tudor rose (the red rose with a white rose) is connected to my ancestors. When visiting the Lacey, WA Rose & Crown Salon & Spa - we strive to treat every client like royalty and deliver a stylish, relaxing experience!
Fun Fact: The original Rose & Crown is an English pub and is still standing.
I am honored to carry forward the story of my family tree through my business. Stop by anytime & let us treat you like a king or queen!
